Last week’s UMO UX India conference speech was an incredible opportunity to share my journey from designer to a trainer. Standing before a room filled with passionate creatives, I felt a deep sense of purpose—bridging the gap between design expertise and education. I spoke about the evolving role of designers in “Persuassive Design”, the importance of cultivating a strong design mindset, and how teaching design is just as much about inspiring confidence as it is about imparting skills.
One key takeaway was how eager young designers are to embrace both technical mastery and the softer aspects of design thinking. Their engagement, questions, and enthusiasm reinforced my belief that mentorship plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of creatives. I also emphasized that design education isn’t just about trends but about fostering problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability.
The post-talk conversations were especially rewarding—hearing personal stories, challenges, and aspirations made me realize how impactful shared knowledge can be. This experience reaffirmed my commitment to guiding and empowering designers, not just through design itself but through learning and growth. The journey from designer to trainer continues, and I’m excited for what’s next.
